A tradition stays alive not by preservation alone, but by the courage to reimagine.

This concert pays homage to the Hindustani classical musicians of the 20th century:
Artists who honored an ancient lineage while boldly reshaping it for a changing world.
As India awakened to independence, they too evolved with it, expanding melodic possibilities, reimagining rhythm, and infusing contemporary thought into timeless ragas. Legends such as Pt. Dinkar Kaikini, Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Vid. Prabha Atre, Vid. Veena Sahasrabuddhe, Begum Akhtar, and Farida Khanum helped forge a modern, resonant Hindustani idiom whose influence endures today.
Maahi Zaveri along with Neil Khopkar and Dhaivat Mehta revisit this rich inheritance through ragas like Yaman Kalyan, Bihag, Multani, and Bhairavi, alongside select semi-classical pieces.
Maahi will be accompanied by Neil on the Appalachian dulcimer, while Dhaivat will provide rhythmic accompaniment on Tabla.
Join us for an exclusive evening to honor the musicians who made this music timeless.

Aangan Arts Community aims to bring Indian classical and folk arts back into intimate spaces like homes. Because Indian arts were born in courtyards, verandas, and temple steps—not auditoriums.
Aangan, the courtyard, is the soul of every home — where stories are shared, laughter echoes, and a quiet sense of belonging is there. Aangan revives that spirit, where art is felt and not just watched. It aims to make art accessible and personal and help develop a sensibility towards Indian art forms by sparking meaningful conversations between artists and audiences.
In a “baithak-style” gathering where the artist and audience meet at eye level. The artist performs, shares the story behind the piece, and the experience often flows into a thoughtful, two-way conversation.

You should definitely not miss this experience, because:
1. To be a part of a lively intimate Hindustani Cassical Music set in context and moods.
2. To initiate your family into a soulful gathering of a few sensitive people.
