Day 1
Chai Coffi: After her husbands demise, Lata a 60 year old homemaker embarks on a solo trip to a tea estate in Kerala, leaving the comforts of her village behind for the first time ever. The films follows her extraordinary adventure as she navigates feelings of wonder, grief and surprises.
Eulogy For You And Me: Yellow even with a little bit of blue is green. This film is an attempt to leap into feelings, small and big, that surround us from the origin to the end of a human connection. The photochemical medium lends itself to creation of worlds with binary colours that move to how we grow, touch, feel and communicate. It stands as an exploration in colour and black and white processing, contact printing, film burning, analog circuitry and hand working on film.
A ripple of yellow and blue. A swim in light and flare. A eulogy for you and me.
Spiralling into Desire: Spiralling into Desire is a Movement X Film collaboration that traces a woman`s descent into her deep body to access and retrieve her true autonomy. The film draws parallels from the first epic poem `The descent of Innana` which narrates the story of the Sumerian goddess Innana`s descent into the underworld, to visit her sister Ershikegel - the queen of the dead. Separated, the two sisters represent the Madonna/Whore split, a dangerous consequence of patriarchy. The descent begins the journey towards the healing of this split.
This experimental film is set at the intersection of cinema, movement arts, psychology and spirituality. Inspired by the practice and discipline of authentic movement and natural dreamwork, the film builds on both - the creative process and the witnessing process, as it explores the question ‘how do we hold desire in our bodies’.
Bringing together dancer, authentic movement and mental health practitioner Brinda Jacob-Janvrin, filmmakers Roohi Dixit and Ziba Bhagwagar, this experiential film is a visceral journey into the liminal space inhabited by the mover as she navigates the inner and outer worlds.
Rent A Friend: Rent A Friend (conditions applied) is a heartfelt exploration of the enduring power of friendship in the face of loss and loneliness. Through Isa and Maya`s journey, audiences are invited to contemplate the profound impact of genuine connection and the transformative nature of empathy and understanding. Amidst a world of hyper-connectivity on social media, the film serves as a poignant reflection on the increasing isolation and disconnection in real life, highlighting the importance of fostering genuine friendships in an age of superficial interactions.
Silent Hearts: The story revolves around Aashima, an Indian girl in her mid-twenties trying to pursue true love in a world where attachments and emotions are often treated as burdens. Through her journey, the film explores the vulnerability, confusion, and quiet strength that women often carry while navigating modern relationships.
