Children’s author Devika Cariapa, introduces her award-winning book "A Children’s History of India in 100 Objects" an exploration of India’s rich material culture through objects ranging from prehistoric to contemporary times.
In this interactive session, she engages young people in reading clues from ancient remains, everything from tiny coins to crumbling pottery, to reveal secrets of
the long-ago people who made them. Participants will then write their own ‘object stories’, discovering a whole new way of understanding the past!

BOOK SYNOPSIS
Throughout history, inventive humans have created objects to enrich their world.
A Children’s History of India in 100 Objects chronicles a hundred such objects from India’s past that have, in some way, shaped the present. The chosen objects are wide ranging, from a stone age hand axe, an iconic diamond, an enchanting sculpted yakshi, a dusty manuscript, even a battered cricket bat. Each reveals a story of how communities and identities were built on the Indian subcontinent, enabling young readers to engage in a deeper understanding of our diverse pasts.
